For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by how other people live their lives. What are other people making for dinner? What’s growing in their garden? Details interest me. If I’m not careful, I’m going to be one of those old ladies on a park bench who will describe mundane things in excruciating detail to strangers. Growing up, my parents were decidedly not into cooking dinner or keeping house. No one was sewing or mending anything. Most aspects of daily life felt very mysterious.
In the olden days (a.k.a. those years before the internet), I could only learn about what other people were up to by reading books. When blogs came out, it was a whole new ballgame. I could read blogs written by people from all over the world, living in big cities or in the countryside, learning about their daily lives and what sparked their interest. I guess that’s why I blog- because I want to share all the things I learn, all the things that bring me joy.
So, without further ado, today I’d like to share something I learned from a stranger on FB who was sharing how she cleans her windows.
***She cleaned her windows with cornstarch. ***
What???? I’m terrible at cleaning windows. They never look clean and always end up full of streaks and missed dirty spots. Once I read how this lady did her windows, I went and tried it myself and the results were magic.
Here’s how you do it;
Mix 1/3 cup of cornstarch into 2 cups of water. Dip a rag into the mixture and wet your window with it. Let it dry just a little bit and then buff it off with a clean rag. The cornstarch acts as a mild abrasive and will soak up any oils on the glass. You can also see any place you’ve missed and when you’re done, your window will be streak free!
Amazing. Life just became a little easier, and a little more sparkly.
Go and clean a window, put some sparkle in your life too. 😊
