And somehow it is the last day of the year! The sun has set and the fire has burned down to embers.
I spent the day putting Christmas away and cleaning out the fireplaces, vacuuming and dusting. I like to welcome the new year with a clean house; the superstitious part of me hoping the new year will be kind if I show it some respect. This past year was kind and I will look back on it with fond memories.
This was the year that my youngest started sleeping in her OWN ROOM!!! It’s been years – ten years, but who’s counting– since I have slept through the night without interruption from a little one. I can hardly believe it when I open my eyes in the morning and realize I’ve slept all night.
I never wrote about it here, but after months (years?) of preparation I finally released my first few sewing patterns on my site Owlcreekpatterns.com . Even though I am not earning anything yet, I have high hopes for the coming year and am glad to have some groundwork laid.
In September our preschool co-op started up in the warehouse that we converted to a school room. I feel so lucky to have met all of the families that are participating, and I am happy to say that our new town is really starting to feel like home.
We had my family come stay for Christmas and we had a used-book exchange, which I think is a super fun way for us grown-ups to celebrate. My husband and I have a new stack of books and I am excited to read each one of them.
Tomorrow we are off to Yosemite to spend the first few days of 2019 basking in all the glory nature has to offer.
I am overflowing with gratitude for the life I get to live, and with love for my family and friends that are near, far, and in heaven. You are all in my thoughts tonight.
Happy New Years xoxo
