It’s official – WINTER IS OVER. SPRING is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so ready for warmer weather, flowers and the sunshine. Actually, we have been enjoying quite a bit of nice weather lately, though thunderstorms are in the forecast for the rest of this week. Go figure.
We’ve been really busy around here – putting our orchard in, working in the garden – and I’ve been trying to organize my sewing room and knock out a few sewing projects that have been put off over the last few months. I hadn’t meant to start in on these projects – I have a list of projects I thought I would be sewing this month, but I got a little distracted.
It all started when I began spring cleaning my sewing room. Feeling optimistic that I could get my space organized, I went ahead and opened the drawers. Maybe I should call them bins. They’re more like bins than they are drawers. They’re bin-drawers. Anyway, there are three of them that I’ve been shoving stuff into over the last year(s). They are full of sewing supplies, old clothes, scraps and other random things.
You see this picture? I pulled all of this out of the bins. Here it is all nicely organized, but it’s all scraps and old clothes that no one would want, and therefore I must do something with. Any ideas what to do with my mountain of scraps?! It’s kind of a problem…
Once I opened the bins and began pulling stuff out, I began to wonder – what am I doing with all of these t-shirts? But then I remembered. A few months ago I promised to make my sister-in-law a memory quilt, and I never did. Sometimes things seem harder than they really are and it’s hard to begin. But, because I am in the mood to get things done, I made a quilt. It’s hard to remember that the biggest hurdle to getting something done is that first, you must begin. After that, it’s surprising how fast a project goes. I can’t share it with you yet because I have to gift it to her first.
All in all, it has been a productive two weeks, though not especially productive on the blog-front. Have you been spring cleaning? Here is a little something I put together just in case you don’t know where to begin.
Just start! I promise it isn’t as hard as it feels.
